Quick Verdict

A frenetic, self-aware genre mashup that works better as a curiosity than a cohesive film. Livestream from Hell delivers a handful of genuinely funny moments and a committed cast, but its thin script and uneven tonal shifts keep it from being the cult classic it clearly wants to be. 5.6/10 - watch it with friends, preferably with low expectations and a good sense of humor.

Story

Kevin Hart plays a heightened version of himself, hosting a record-breaking livestream from his mansion with fellow comedian Druski and streamer Kai Cenat. The setup is pure ego and spectacle: celebrity guests, elaborate pranks, and a production designed to dominate the internet for one night. For the first act, it's all chaotic banter and escalating practical jokes - the kind of content that thrives on improvisation and personality.

Then the pranks go too far. What starts as a staged scare morphs into genuine panic when a real murder occurs on camera. The trio, along with their celebrity guests - including La La Anthony as herself - find themselves trapped inside the mansion, forced to solve a mystery while millions watch from the outside. The livestream never stops. Neither does the danger.

It's a clever hook: the audience becomes complicit, and the film leans into the voyeuristic thrill of watching horror unfold in real time. Unfortunately, the script rarely knows what to do with its own premise beyond the initial novelty.

Review

Janoff directs with an eye for chaos, keeping the camera restless and the pacing brisk. The film's biggest asset is its cast. Kevin Hart does his usual fast-talking, self-deprecating routine, and it lands more often than not. Druski and Kai Cenat bring their own internet-native energy, and the generational clash between old-school comedy and new-school streaming culture provides some of the film's sharpest jokes. La La Anthony, as always, brings a grounding presence that the film desperately needs during its more absurd detours.

The horror elements, however, are toothless. For a movie with "Hell" in the title, there's precious little dread. The kills are staged for laughs rather than scares, which is fine, but the comedy and horror never fully mesh. One moment it's a goofy whodunnit, the next it wants to be a claustrophobic thriller. The result is tonal whiplash that undercuts both genres.

At 77 minutes, the film doesn't overstay its welcome, but it also feels underwritten. Characters make baffling decisions, the mystery resolves with a shrug, and the satire of livestream culture - while present - never cuts as deep as it could. It's content about content, but it rarely says anything new. Jackie Brougham's Balloon Girl is a fun visual gag that never develops beyond a punchline, and the celebrity cameos feel more like obligations than organic inclusions.

Still, there's a scrappy charm to the whole enterprise. It knows exactly what it is: a disposable, watch-party movie designed to trend. And in that narrow lane, it mostly succeeds. The improvised dialogue crackles when it's allowed to breathe, and the livestream framing device - complete with on-screen comments and viewer counts - adds a layer of immersion that younger audiences will appreciate.

Final Verdict

Livestream from Hell is the cinematic equivalent of a viral clip: entertaining in the moment, instantly forgettable afterward. It won't satisfy horror purists or comedy connoisseurs, but as a low-stakes, high-energy watch with friends, it delivers enough laughs and chaos to justify its 77 minutes. Kevin Hart and company seem to be having fun, and that energy is infectious - even when the script isn't. Stream it if you're curious, but don't expect a masterpiece. Sometimes a livestream is just a livestream.
